I don't need to believe an idea to find it useful.

Curiosity / Thinking

I like learning about systems of thought that disagree with one another. Sometimes I agree with them. Sometimes I do not. Most of the time I probably land somewhere less satisfying than either side would prefer.

But I do not think understanding an idea requires me to become loyal to it. I can look at what it explains well, what assumptions it depends on, where it becomes less convincing, and what changes when I look at the same question from somewhere else.

That is probably why I move between subjects so easily. I am less interested in finding one framework that explains everything than in collecting better ways to ask questions.

Belief asks me to choose.

Curiosity gives me permission to stay a little longer.
