A personal fiction project. This archive includes characters, plot details, and notes on how I write it.

A world across several stories

Rasel belongs to a larger project set in Arawin. The project extends across nine titles, organised around three thematic groups. It is not a single isolated novel with a world built only to support its immediate plot.

Arawin

I am interested in whether the parts of a world behave as if they belong to the same reality. Its history should have consequences in the present. Culture should affect speech and behaviour, and power should come at a cost.

The detail of a world matters when it changes what someone can do, expect, or believe. A character cannot escape the logic of that world just because the plot has become inconvenient.

Nine titles, three thematic groups

The series has a trilogy-like thematic architecture. These three groups describe the questions running through the larger project, rather than a complete plot chronology.

  1. Being alive

    What does existence demand?

  2. Living

What does someone choose to do with that existence?

  3. Learning

What remains after experience changes a person?

The final pair of titles can be rendered in English as Flowers in the Desert and The Blank Notebook. These are English renderings of the Thai titles, not announced publication titles.

The remaining titles and their individual plots are not set out in this archive yet. The three groups are not presented as an equal allocation of titles.

Rules that make the world believable

  • History leaves consequences rather than serving only as background.
  • Culture changes how people speak, act, and understand one another.
  • Power costs something.
  • Characters remain subject to the logic of their own reality.
  • Lore earns its place through what it changes in the story.

From writing it

Fantasy lets me invent almost anything. That is why I think it needs rules. Once those rules feel believable, imagination has more room to move.

The questions I keep returning to are about being alive, choosing how to live, and learning from what happens. I do not want the archive to bury those questions beneath a catalogue of lore.

Character histories, places, maps, political systems, and any rules of magic will be added from the manuscript and world notes. They are not filled in here simply to make the world look complete.
