Some films explain their worlds through dialogue.
Others let weather, architecture, colour, scale, objects, and silence do part of the work.
I tend to remember the second kind.
A rainy garden, an impossible house, a perfectly controlled room, or the scale of someone standing against space can tell me what a story feels like before I fully understand what it is saying.
I like images that are doing narrative work rather than simply looking good.
